My First Time On An Airplane!

My First Time On An Airplane!

My First time on an Airplane!!……………….since the pandemic and with a baby!

Ok, so the truth is I've been on an airplane countless times, but when I set out to travel for the first time during the pandemic and with a 1 year old I was prepared for it to feel like my first time on a plane! I knew things would be different and there would be a lot to learn! In this post I will be sharing with you just a few packing tips if you are traveling during the pandemic, whether it be for work or vacation and also if you are traveling with a baby or toddler.

After many long months of not traveling, I finally dusted off my suitcases and packed for a domestic trip to Florida to visit family. A lot has happened in 2020 that has definitely changed the game!

Packing Tips for traveling during a pandemic and traveling with a toddler

When traveling with a 1 year old:

  • Umbrella Stroller- I personally know a couple of people who took their strollers to the airport and the stroller returned damaged. I think it is worthwhile to purchase a lightweight umbrella stroller to travel with. It has less pieces and contraptions than your everyday stroller so less of a chance to get damaged. They are also pretty affordable.

  • Stroller Cover- Having this gave me a sense of relief in the airport. It was so crowded and I felt like my child was less exposed by having this on his stroller

  • Bug spray and sunscreen safe for babies- This will depend on where you are traveling to. I personally like to travel to warm weather climates and islands so these items are a must!

  • New Toy- It is a good idea to buy a new, small, quiet toy to introduce once you are on the plane. A new toy will likely keep your child engaged for a while.

  • Headphones & Tablet- This will depend on your preference. But if you are comfortable with your child having screen time, then investing in a tablet might be a good idea for a long plane ride. You can download some of their favorite shows to keep them busy or drown out the noise around them.

  • Beach Toys- Again.. I am an island type of girl who loves a good beach vacation so these came in handy!

  • Snacks/ Water/ Juice- When traveling with a baby you often get a pass to bring snacks and formula through the security checkpoint. Check with your airline to see what their restrictions are and how everything should be stored.

  • Toddler Face shield

  • Versatile Diaper Bag

When Traveling during a Pandemic:

  • Lysol- Honestly you can never have enough. And spray everything!

  • Hand Sanitizer- To use on your hands after coming in contact with things that people touch a lot

  • Clorox Wipes- Wipe down surfaces

  • Face Masks- It is a good idea to pack extras

  • Seat Covers- If you are uncomfortable sitting on the airplane seats

  • Thermometer- If you are not feeling well you can quickly record your own temperature
